Halloween Tablescape - sparkles but creepy

I am so happy to be able to create a tablescape for Halloween. We have been so busy with packing and moving everything into storage, I was afraid I wouldn't have time to get the tablescape ready.

My Halloween tub was moved to my daughter's house so I could design a tablescape at her house. So here I am at the very last minute creating this post.

Halloween is just about my favorite holiday; it's so fun and yet a little spooky. This year I am using a little sparkle plus some creepiness.

Here's a little of the creepy with a little mouse climbing on a white pumpkin.

Skulls and bones on the table also add to the creepiness.

Black crows always come around looking for a little food.

The sparkle for the table comes with three shiny mercury balls on candlesticks.

Now you have the idea of sparkles and creepy.

I have never used the mercury glass at Halloween but I am liking the sparkle.

The table is set with white Fiesta dinner plates plus a salad plate with a gray and black design.

Black stemmed goblets were added to stay with the theme.

You see who is sitting next to the coffee pot and not too far from the table.

I tried to keep those crows caged but they managed to escape.

I have three witch friends who have arrived for the party. I just love Trixie, Dixie, and Peach. They are just about the cutest witches I know. I don't care if they are plastic, I love them anyway.

Trixie, Dixie and Peach are ready to fly out on their bloom sticks so maybe I'll get to see them when I go out for . . .

Sold Our House - Packing and Moving

Big news from our house! We sold it, yeah, we are so thrilled and ready to move on and be closer to our grandkids. The closing date is approaching quickly, we have had less than a month to get moved. We don't even have enough time to buy another house. We are just rushing to pack and move everything to storage then we will start looking.

So here's what is going on at our house.

I am starting to question myself about my dish addiction, I have packed tons and tons of plates, platters, bowls and glasses. My love of them is catching up with me. I think my husband is in shock at all the boxes of dishes. It's gonna take a lot of storage space!!

Yellow Mums for a Fall Tablescape and Inexpensive

Wow, the weather is cooler and is feels great outside. I am so happy Fall in the air. Mums are blooming plus the stores have lots of mums for sale. I stopped by Walmart and got yellow ones for only $4.00. So, of course, they are my centerpiece for a Fall tablescape.

The mums were placed in a pumpkin soup tureen for a beautiful fall base. I've had this tureen for years so no new cost here.

Yellow mums are perfect with pumpkins and gourds for Fall decorating. Orange, bronze, yellow and creamy white make a great combination.

Mixing Fall berries and leaves around the tureen just adds more touches of Fall.

Fall elements comes in such great colors. Don't you just love those shades of orange, brown, rust and yellow?

No expense here either. All from my stash.

For my tablescape, it's not expensive. In fact, you will probably recognize these fall plates from the $$ tree. I bought mine a year or so ago but have never used them until now. I'll give you a tiny peak and see if you remember them. I bet you do!!

The creamy plates have fall leaves around the rim with a few acorns mixed in the circle. The inner plate has a green circle. Cheap, cheap, cheap but great for the occasion. My guests probably won't even know that I only paid $1 per plate.

The napkins and napkin rings are from Pier 1 a couple of years ago. Great colors, nice touch for this Fall table.

These green goblets have been around blogland for years so I know they are nothing new but sure do work with the plates. Again, cheap, cheap, cheap from the $$tree. I washed them and shined them up a bit and they are a go.

The woven placemats came from TJ Maxx about a year ago.

Now you have seen all of the elements of my Fall table so let's take a look at all of them together. Set for a Fall casual dinner in the kitchen.

Planning A Fall Tablescape - It's All About the Centerpiece & Dishes

It seems like I am seeing bits of Fall appearing across blogland. So far, I am only making plans in my head for a Fall tablescape. For a little inspiration, I decided to review some of my Fall tablescapes from my archives. I think it is usually the centerpiece that I think of first then the dishes. Let's see!

One of my favorite Fall tablescapes was White Dishes and Orange Accents. This tablescape was designed for a challenge at Cuisine Kathleen. The challenge only allowed for one other accent color to be used on the table. I selected white dishes with orange accents. I started with a hurricane centerpiece then added lots of orange berries, and an orange pumpkin.

Then there was Dining With a Hoot Owl for a tablescape on the back deck. This one was fun too and I had the cutest hoot owl to work with.

I love to start with the centerpiece when creating a tablescape. For this one I used lots of gourds and leaves plus my friendly owl.

The woven chargers were used under fall plates with little pumpkins and leaves to top it off. I just love the mix of fall colors for this tablescape.

Burgundy Mums for A Fall Table was a tablescape for my kitchen table. I always enjoy creating something for that table.

It's a round table and that make it easy to plan a tablescape. I'm always looking for round tablecloths. I usually find something great at TJ Maxx or Home Goods. Then I don't have too much $$$ involved. I used the hurricane centerpiece again and this time stuffed it with mums.

One of my very first tablescapes for Fall was in 2012 where I used a creamy colored pumpkin soup tureen as a centerpiece. It was surrounded with fall picks of pumpkins, gourds, and leaves.

Small candles were placed around the centerpiece.
I didn't use a tablecloth instead yellow placemats with a stack of dishes using fall colors.

I don't have a dinner party for eight planned for the Fall but who knows what can happen. Here's a little inspiration. It's always nice to see the dining room table set for a Fall dinner.

The centerpiece featured a mercury glass pumpkin sitting on a mirrored frame. More gourds, pumpkins, and a couple of pheasant feathers were added. Burlap ran down the table with several candle sticks. Burlap has been so popular that I may use it again this season.
