At the Feeders and in the Trees - Week 37

On February 15, 2019, we woke up to a shiny wonderland with ice on the trees

and lots of birds at the feeders. I'm sure they were very hungry since they couldn't get to food on the ground. Ice was also on the feeders which made for beautiful photos. Take a look:

It was such a pleasure to just keep photographing the birds in nature.

Notice the goldfinch on the left flying in on the left in the pic below.

I had a first-time time visitor for me to photograph. The Yellow-Rumped Warber was eating safflower seeds on the deck.

I believe this is the female because the male has a black mask on his face. Both the male and the female have the yellow patch on the rump seen in the next two pics.

The Purple Finches are still hanging around our feeders. I'm not sure when they leave us.

The male and female cardinals are just amazing to watch. I love how the female is cocking her head in the second pic in the collage.

I like this capture of the two cardinals and the male with his wing extended.

Hope you have been enjoying the birds in your area - Judy.

At The Feeders and in the Trees - Week 36

We have been getting lots of rain here in Western Kentucky. The picture below shows a nice reflection of the Goldfinch in a small puddle of water on a table on the deck. (Love these two pics)

A Carolina Wren paid a visit this week. I haven't seen him at my feeders for quite a while so it was fun to snap a few pics.

The Red-bellied Woodpecker and White-throated Sparrows gave me a few photo opportunities.

Usually the Red-Bellied Woodpecker is up and down my trees looking for insects or eats suet but this week, I saw him on the  black-oiled sunflower seed feeder.

Other visitors at the feeders include cardinals, purple finches (male and female), house finches.

Fun shots of the week:

Hope your birding has been fun and interesting - Judy.

Valentine Table: tulip love

Sometimes things just seem to fall into place. I really wasn't planning on making a tablescape with pink, green, and red for Valentine's Day, but as I said, "things just seem to fall into place."

It began when I bought some potted tulips and placed them on the kitchen counter along with a Valentine plate by Peggy Karr Glass Company. I was anxious for them to completely open their blooms.  At that point, I had no further plans for the tulips other than to enjoy their beauty.

Last Friday, I began working on a table topper pattern that I  thought would look sweet for Valentine's Day.  I finished the topper on Tuesday and decided to use it in the kitchen. (size is 24 x 24 inches)

Now, this is when things just seemed to fall into place.

From there a pink, green and red tablescape evolved (fell into place).

The tulips were moved to the center of the tabletopper. Gosh, I didn't have any casual dishes in pink but I did have green plates, red salad plates, and pink napkins. These could be placed on pink textured placemats and the setting could tie in (fall in place) with the tabletopper.

The look is very casual, but perfect for my kitchen.

The pink stemware is Fostoria Heritage and the flatware is Lenox Eternal Gold.

Although I worked hard piecing and quilting the tabletopper, it is the tulips that steal the show with their beautiful cup-shaped flowers.

I hope things are "falling into place" for your Valentine's Day table - Judy.
