Enjoying the Northern Cardinal

During the winter months, the Northern Cardinals visit my feeders everyday and many times a day.

They are such a joy to watch.

With just the slightest movement of his head, he seems to be looking right at you.

I am so thankful that we live in an area where they are prevalent.

Hope you are enjoying seeing the Northern Cardinal. Happy birding - Judy.

Visiting Strasbourg, France

On our Rhine River Cruise, one of our ports to visit was Strasbourg, France, which is the capital city of the Grand Est region, formerly Alsace, in northeastern France.

We walked along the cobblestone streets and canals in Petite France, Strasbourg. We saw the timbered homes like the Tanners' House built in 1572. I loved the reflection of the home in the water.

As you stroll along the cobblestone streets, our tour guide pointed out the stork nests high on the houses. They say the storks return to the same nests year after year for their entire lives. The male returns first to reclaim and tidy up the nest before the female arrives. You can see replicas of the stork on the balcony in the pic below.

We walked to the Strasbourg Cathedral or Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg. It is a beautiful example of Gothic architecture in Europe.

Not far from the cathedral is the Place Gutenberg area of Strasbourg.  You can see the historic carousel below.

Next to the carousel stands a statute of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable type printing press.

Strasbourg has eleven Christmas markets spread across the center of Strasbourg during the Christmas season. Although we missed the Christmas market, a few shops were getting their shore windows ready. My pics aren't great of the windows (reflections and glare).

Thanks for stopping by for a short visit to Strasbourg, France - Judy.
