Spring and Easter Tablescape Inspiration

I find myself already thinking about tablescapes for Spring and Easter so while I was out shopping, I stopped in Pier 1 for a little inspiration.

I love the vibrant colors in this Amelia Dinnerware Collection with the oranges, yellows plus a little blue and green .

Egg and vine vase.

Here are two collections together Martillo Sage and Mango. Notice the wreath with the bright orange carrots.

Love the shape and detail of the bunny egg plate.

Soft and elegant.

Such an elegant napkin ring made with faux rose.

White stack of plates and salad plates with orange and yellow napkins.

Miss Rabbit seems to have her eye on us.

Soft yellow dishes from the Martillo Square Mango Collection and a Gingham Bunny Table Runner .

Another set of white dishes with the rose napkin ring and a beautiful cloth napkins. The egg has lots of sparkle to it. The goblets are Purple Crackle.

Don't know about you but I am inspired from so many collections for Spring and Easter. How about you, what do you like?

Waterlogue Wednesday #1

I'm playing along with Rhondi's Waterlogue Wednesday over at Rose Colored Glasses for her first Waterlogue Wednesday. I have some images of daffodils to share that have had a watercolor effect applied.

There is an app for iphones for the waterlogue effect that I plan to download for next Wednesday's party but for today, I used Photoshop and a watercolor effect.

I'll get with it for next time and use the waterlogue app. I may even try these same images and see the different between the Photoshop Artislic Filer - watercolor and the new waterlogue app.

I still had fun today - Judy.

New Ottoman Cover in the Living Room

It's time for a change in the living room. The ottoman needed a new dress for winter.

We are excited about her new look for the season.

A new cover was made to slip right over the ottoman and give a fresh new look. Here's the fabric from Nell Hill's in Kansas City.

My daughter wasn't unhappy with the look of the ottoman before but felt it wasn't working for the Fall and Winter holidays. You know how she loves those Pottery Barn pillows and changing them for every season.

Here's how the ottoman looked last winter. The ottoman and pillow were made from match fabrics from Nell Hill's and looked great together but she wanted a new look for different occasions.

So new fabric and new pillows for winter. The center pillow on the couch is PB with a winter berry wreath design.

The new cover can easily be removed and back to the spring look when the time comes - Judy

Red Velvet Cake and Red Roses

It's Valentine's Day and my husband's very favorite cakes is Red Velvet

A friend of our daughter's loves to make cakes so as a surprise I had her make this favorite cake.

The cake had a delicious flavor and the tasty cream cheese icing hubby loves.

Red roses are always a wonderful way to say "I Love You," any day of the year but especially on Valentine's Day.

A special hand-made card by me for my sweetheart also says "i love you."

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you - Judy.

Chili-Braised Pork with Roasted Butternut Squash Wedges

Dinner's Ready! A warm plate of food on a cold snowy night should be just want you want to dinner.

How does a 4 lb pork roast rubbed with chili powder, salt, pepper and oregano cooked 6-8 hours in a slow cooker sound?

A large onion was chopped and placed under the roast in the slow cooker. A cup of fresh orange juice and a can of reduced sodium chicken broth were poured around the pork before cooking.

Now that the pork is cooking, let's move on to the butternut squash. I cut them in halve and you can see the lovely seeds. These will need to be removed, I usually use a spoon to do so.

The squash will also need to be peeled; I used a vegetable peeler to do so (far less chance to cut yourself than using a knife). Now the squash is ready to be baked at 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes after you combine the squash with a little olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.

When the pork is done, it can be shredded with two forks.

The table is ready and waiting for everyone to take a seat. A live green plant is added to serve as a centerpiece. Green grosgrain ribbon, used to mimic the green plant, is tied around the napkin and flatware keeping it simple.

Add a little barbecue sauce and make it a sandwich or open face.

A small salad with manderian oranges gives a sweet taste to compliment the pork. Your meal is healthy and should make everyone in the family happy - Judy.
