Burgundy Mums for a Fall Table

Mums are a fall tradition for most of us. I'm using a fall hurricane centerpiece with burgundy mums for my table.

I wanted to pull out some of the colors from the tablecloth as I sat the table. The reddish burgundy flower in the fabric was perfect with the mums.

The fabric also has small blue flowers, so Paula Dean blue plates and Fostoria Heritage blue water goblets were selected.

The green in the fabric called for green napkins with a fall flower on the napkin ring.

Clear crystal stemware was used with the blue goblets.

Now I think I have the colors in the tablecloth covered.

Kitchen Mantel with Fall Touches

I am running a little slow but I now have my kitchen mantel done so here it is:

White pumpkins are so popular and can go with just about any color.

My aqua pieces carry me from summer right into fall. Just add some fall touches and you are ready to go.

Another white pumpkin and a few fall stems or bushes and the decorating is done.

The wreath over the mantel was a green summer wreath then fall elements are added. Again, from summer right into fall with only minimal touches.

The best thing about my kitchen mantel, was nothing new was purchased. Thanks for stopping in to see my kitchen mantel - Judy.

Fall Centerpiece and It Didn't Cost A Dime

I've been busy helping my daughter decorate for Fall then was back at my house over the weekend for my own Fall decorating. The first thing I worked on was a fall centerpiece for the dining room table.

This centerpiece didn't cost me a cent. Remember I just bought those Pottery Barn pumpkin plates so I wan't wanting to spend more money for a centerpiece.

This centerpiece had a previous life as a wreath over my kitchen mantel and now has a new home on the dining room table. I have loved it in both places.

It has such beautiful ribbons, berries and roses!

A tall hurricane vase and candle were added to center of the wreath for added height and beauty.

It's resting on a sheer runner and joined by two footed champagne colored lidded urns at each end.

There you have it, my Fall Centerpiece, thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Pumpkins in the Lantern and A Fall Centerpiece

Well, it's official, I have finally started my fall decorating. Since I'm at my daughter's house and she bought a few new pieces for her lantern, I might as put it together for her.

I think she leaves new things out in my sight so I will start the decorating. Oh well, she knows I love to create new looks even if it's at her house.

She bought the  lantern and black tray at Nell Hill's last year and wanted something new to spruce it up. Another trip to Nell Hill's this week and she found just the right touches. A new pumpkin was added to the lantern.

The fall leaves and berries were good with the arrangement.

Did you notice the pine wreath? She thought she could use it for fall then again for Christmas with different pieces.

The painting behind the lantern makes such a good backdrop with its warm tones.

Thanks for stopping by. I plan to keep on with my fall decorating - Judy.

Pottery Barn Fall Inspiration

I had the chance to stop in Pottery Barn on Sunday, and WOW Fall inspiration was everywhere in the store. It was just what I needed since I haven't put out a single thing for Fall yet.

How about pumpkins and gourds, they were in several colors, many different shapes, and even little pumpkin lights.

Can you see the little black crow sitting on top of the wheel? He's pretty cute!

Now for some table setting inspiration.

Oh, those pumpkin plates, I definitely have my eye on those.

Guess what, I just had to buy some of the pumpkin plates, so you will see them in a post this Fall. Hope you were inspired - Judy.

Yellowstone and A Bear Story

This is my third and final post about Yellowstone National Park but today's story has a close encounter with bears.

On our final day trip to Yellowstone, we entered at West Yellowstone and headed to the northern area of Mammoth. (I didn't take this picture but it is gorgeous). Bet it makes you want to visit Mammoth!

Mammoth is the headquarters of the park and has some of the oldest buildings.

Mammoth Hot Springs are the main attraction of the area. These features are very different than the thermal areas elsewhere in the park. The hot water rises through the limestone, large quantities of rock are dissolved by the hot water and a white chalky mineral is deposited on the surface.

Now, let me back up and tell you what happened on the way to Mammoth. You know in Yellowstone, anytime cars stop on the road, that usually means that a wild animal is somewhere in viewing distance. So everyone stops and gets out of their cars to see what's going on.

We come around a curve and there are two cars stopped ahead of us. So of course, my husband and our friend Jim jump out of the car and start moving forward for a look. As they were walking up, all of a sudden here comes a mamma bear out from the trees on the opposite side of the road.

Wow, how exciting! My husband said he looked around and she was walking straight for him and Jim) and hubby was in the front. He said they starting backing up plus there were two cubs with mamma. No one wants to mess with a mamma and her cubs, RIGHT?

Well, the guys were safe and mamma and two cubs walked on across the road. The two cubs climbed up a tree and mamma just meandered around the tree. We did get a few good pictures!!

The story of the bear ended on a bad note for Jim. He tripped and fell off the side of the road, although it was only a short drop off  his foot rolled and fractured a bone in his foot. (It really made for a good story to share with his family and friends in Kentucky.)
We put ice on his foot but he was tough and wouldn't go for an x-ray. Luckily it was our last day and he went to the ER when he returned home. Poor Jim, and their daughter's wedding was only a few weeks away (more on the wedding in another post).

I'll share another scenic photo from northern Yellowstone to leave you with positive thoughts about Yellowstone.
