I love to decorate for just about all of the holidays. July 4th is almost here, and my hearth room is decorated with lots of red, white, and blue touches.
The mantel and hearth are the focal point of the room, so they always get special attention.
Adding flags to the mantel is instant patriotism. The wreath has red, white and blue pip beads and a patriotic bow. The left-side of the mantel has an arrangement I put together with a short red vase filled with red geraniums, flags, rockets, and a patriotic bow. Flags on the right-side were added to rustic pitcher/watering can painted white and filled with limelight hydrangea blooms preserved from last year. The bird house was added because I'm a bird watcher and love to use a few bird houses in my decor.
The hearth has patriotic pillows. The chair beside is draped with a quilt I made a couple of years ago. Patriotic quilts are my favorite quilts to make. I'm working on one right now, but it isn't quite finished.
The patriotic runner on the table was made by me a couple years ago. It was simply three star squares, a border then quilted on my machine and add the binding. But it did take a day or two to complete.
The God Bless America cross-stitch piece was made by a friend years ago when I lived in Missouri. It is really special to me because the friend recently let me know she isn't able to cross stitch anymore because of declining eyesight.
A small woven round tray sits on the coffee table. The tray is filled with a blue and white calico vase filled with white flowers, a white candle, a bird, and wooden beads.
Thanks for stopping in for our patriotic hearth room. I would love to hear about your patriotic decor - Judy.
