Indigo and White for A Winter Tablescape

Are you familiar with the color Indigo?
I bet you are and I hope you  enjoy it just like I do.

So a young child might ask, what color is indigo?

Answer: It's one of the colors of the rainbow - a dark purplish blue - and it gets its name from the indigo plant used to create the indigo dye.

I remember as a kid hearing the word "indigo" and I thought it must be something exotic. I didn't think we had anything in our house that was "indigo." Why, I was just a little American girl with blond hair and blue eyes, and thought you must have to be from another country to have something "indigo". Who would know that those dark blue denim jeans I wore were "indigo". That must be why I always liked to wear jeans!

I have some new indigo pieces for my tablescape to share with you. While I was shopping, I saw this indigo tablecloth on display and it was instant love.

They must have created the display just for me!

I had to design my tablescape just as quickly as I got home I used my white Dollar Tree beaded rimmed plates to start the stack.
I had to save somewhere in my expense.
Tidbit About the Tablecloth:
This textile was block printed by artisans in Jaipur, India using a process which is thousands of years old. Patterns are carved and chiseled by hand into wooden blocks. These blocks are then coated with ink and pressed firmly onto fabric to create a continuous pattern. No two textiles are exactly alike. The unique characteristics and irregularities are what make these items so special.

The blue goblets are from Dollar Tree and the white water goblets are Fostoria Heritage.

The salad plates were part of the display at the shop, so you know I fell in love with them too. Wow, they are just so vibrant on my table!

Tidbit About Indigo:
Indigo conveys trust, truthfulness, and stability. It also may have some of the authority and royalty of purple as indigo was considered a royal blue.

The cloth napkins came in two patterns, one was the exact replica as the tablecloth but I chose the contrasting napkin for a little added interest. The napkins and cloth are by TAG Tableware.

How about a glass of Von Jakob wine to go with our indigo tablescape?

This Hillside White American Semi Dry Wine has a beautiful indigo label to continue the indigo theme. Von Jakob is a winery in Southern Illinois close to where I grew up, and my husband and I have visited the winery on trips back to Southern Illinois.
Here's a link to the Von Jakob Winery and Vinyard online store.

I always enjoy working in Photoshop, I applied an   an interesting effect called "Plastic Wrap"  to a napkin photo below.

I think this indigo color has truly stolen my heart. Thanks for stopping in. Let me know what you think about indigo and the tablescape – Judy.

How's Your Weather Today?

Round Two of bad weather here in Western Missouri (Kansas City area).

Take a look of the view out the window this morning.

This is our second round of snow in less than a week. On Thursday, February 21, the area was blanketed with about 12 inches of dry snow and high winds. It took a couple of days to dig out of that one. Now we have been covered again with snow. This time it is a very wet snow and has covered the tree. The trees look like they have on white dresses.

The branches of the Japanese Maple are so weighted down with the wet white snow.

So heavy for their delicate branches.

My daughter put out more food for the birds last night expecting them to be very hungry today and with little food source other than feeders.

Did you notice the Gold Finch through the handle of the feeder? It's sitting on a branch on the tree.

Gold Finches are one of my favorites.

My grandson's watched the birds with me for a while then saw their fort out another window. The five year old was so worried about it and asked if it was going to fall down.
