A Quiet Moment

Our first snow came over night.

As the wind blew and trees cracked,

I knew the pond would be a beautiful sight

in the first morning light.

The air is cold and fresh on my face

As I step out to see the clear blue water so near

My feeling of contentment is overwhelming

Only the click of my camera do I hear.

Japanese Maple

This Japanese Maple is just gorgeous right now. With the sun shinning on it you really notice it's ribbonlike leaves and their burgundy wine color. Some leaves seem bronzy and some greenish or a little yellow.

The deeply divided lacy leaves on the branches look so delicate. This Japanese Maple seems wider than tall.

I wished it lived in my yard but it is in my daughter's yard.

Muir Woods

We were vacationing in San Francisco and decided to take a bus tour over the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods Redwood Forest. Oh was I glad we did, I was just in awe of this beautiful, ancient redwood forest that was truly unique.

Do you know that Redwoods grow taller than any other tree species in the world. The average age of the redwoods in Muir Woods ranges from 400–800 years old. I think that is just amazing.

Wish I could have spent the day there, but the bus was about to leave me!!
