At the Feeders and in the Trees #47

When the snow falls, so many of the songbirds and yardbirds are searching for food. My feeders have provided lots of food on these recent snowy, bitterly cold days.

Sharing the Food

At the feeders, there are House Finches, Chickadees, Cardinals, Gold Finches, and Nuthatches sharing the Safflower seeds.

In the Trees

The female Northern Cardinal looks gorgeous against the bark of our River Birch Trees.

The Chickadee is a frequent visitor.

Birds in the Trees: Northern Mockingbird, Cardinals, Finches, and Mourning Dove.

Other Birds in the Trees: Downey Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, and female Cardinal.

Spreading their Wings

It's always fun capturing birds spreading their wings. I take tons of pics to get a few like these.

That's it for this time. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

  3. Lovely photographs. I haven't hung the feeder as it is unusually warm, the meadows are green, even the mosquitos fly. Lots of food for my feathery friends. But winter will come back ...

  5. You do a great job in filling the birds""hungry gap", when natural food is in short supply. Keep up the good work.

  6. I like to capture the birds in flight too. Most of our birds fly in and scare the other birds off. They don't share well! lol Happy weekend!

  11. What a great set of birds - we dont have the 'right' set of birds in Australia for bird feeders to work like this - so its always good to see some feeder action from elsewhere. Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

  12. The cold weather is always good for attracting good numbers to the feeders, and that's always a relief when you can't get out to go and see them on a walk. Love the variety that you get too.

  14. Feeding birds is a very rewarding pastime, and in harsh weather really aids in their survival. You have an appealing crew coming to benefit from your kindness.

  16. I envy you all the birds I see here. Where I live I rarely see any at all. :(
