Continuing my series . . .
I'm still sharing pictures of barns around the Murray, KY, area. This barn has lots of rust plus those small windows high on the front and sides.
This picture was taken in the fall and you see the doors are closed so there must be tobacco inside.
We photographed this barn again just a couple of weeks ago. This time, we used the barn as a background for pictures of our grandsons.
As we near July 4, I thought you might enjoy a patriotic showing of bloom colors in an urn.
Birds at my feeders on Sunday included:
A blue jay who keeps dropping in for black oil sunflower seeds.
A tufted titmouse who likes to grab a black oil sunflower seed and quickly fly to a branch so he can crack it and enjoy the taste.
We had a terrible storm on Saturday evening. The three birch trees next to our deck didn't handle the storm too well. Each tree has 3-5 trunks and at least 1-2 trunks in each tree were bent way over after the storm and couldn't straighten back up. Today my husband and I had to trim the branches way back hoping the trunks would stand straighter. After losing a lot of branches from our trimming, the trunks are standing better.
I was worried about the birds during the storm but today I put out new food in the feeders and my yard birds soon returned.
The Northern Cardinal visited right away.
Thanks for stopping by for another day of Life In Kentucky - Judy.

Love the textures of the barn and the pictures of the birds! I was surprised to see where you live. My sister Peggy moved to Murray a year ago! I did not want her to leave Virginia but it wasn't up to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very unique barn and how interesting it could have tobacco in it!

good morning~ so many great captures. love that barn. you seem to have quite a few bird visitors. i'm sure it's a joy to watch them all. sorry to hear about your trees. hope the trimming helps them. thanks for dropping by my blog Saturday. hope all is well. have a great day~
ReplyDeleteI don't believe I've ever seen a tobacco barn with such siding - rust and all!
ReplyDeleteHope you weathered the storm better than your birch trees. The trimming should make them stronger for the next one. Fun bit about the tufted titmouse, must be a joy to watch. The tobacco barn makes a great backdrop, I've seen a number of them in WI.
ReplyDeleteWow! That barn looks amazing! I love the colours. We get a lot of Blue jays over here. I enjoy watching them hopping around.
ReplyDeleteThat barn is gorgeous.
