Cypress Trees

I grew up in Southern Illinois and on a visit back over Christmas I wanted to stop by Horseshoe Lake Conservation Area and take a look at the bald cypress trees.

Horseshoe Lake is a 2,400 acre shallow lake in Alexander County, Illinois. It has 20 miles of shoreline and the water is just beautiful. Although the trees are bare this time of year, I love to look at the base of the trees that is just above the water.

I tried to get pictures of the ducks on the lake, but they were quick. They just wouldn't pose for a picture. You will see the dark headed ducks are the hens and the green heads are the drakes.

Thanks for stopping by to see the cypress trees and a few ducks - Judy.
