Aqua Mantel

Ho, ho, ho, you know how much I love to use aqua in my decorating, so you probably aren't surprised that I'm using aqua on my kitchen mantel for Christmas.

Wow, was I excited when I visited Michael's and they were showing peacock blue glittery pieces! It didn't take me long to gather all the stems and pieces I could and start dreaming about decorating with aqua and peacock blue for Christmas.

Here's a glance at the entire mantel.

I found some aqua Christmas trees at Hobby Lobby to add to the mantel. The Holiday Village plate is by Peggy Karr Glass and has been around my house for a few years.

I assembled the wreath with additional pieces from Michael's. You can see more pictures of my wreath here.

Here's an evening shot after I added lights and a little additional garland across the back of the mantel.

Be sure to check back later to see my aqua Christmas tablescape - Judy.

Aqua and Orange for Easter

Here I go again with my favorite color - aqua but this time I am adding some orange in the mix. Please follow along, I make a few changes towards the end for this tablescape. It didn't start out to be an Easter tablescape but see what happens.

Take a look:

I bought the aqua chargers a few months ago at TJ Maxx and was thrilled to find them.

The darker aqua stemware comes from a February post called "Is It Aqua or Turquoise." I thought the stemware would go perfect with this table sitting too.

On another shopping trip to TJ Maxx, I found the large square platter that I am using as a centerpiece for my tablescape. This is how orange entered the picture. I was attracted to the platter and noticed that there was a bit of light blue on the leaves. It took me a few minutes but then thought of my aqua chargers and thought they could go together.

The platter is beautiful with its orange, red, and yellow flowers and then the small amounts of blue on the leaves. It seems hard for your eyes to leave the oranges but when you look closely, you can see the blue on the leaves.
The triple orange flower dish was sitting on the same table with the platter so I knew it was a go too.

My birthday was last week and I had a little birthday money so I went on a shopping trip. I stopped in some of my favorite stores and had black plates on my mind and just couldn't find what I was looking for. The last place I stopped in was TJ Maxx, where I walked to the back of the store where the dishes are located, and there sitting on display where these light blue dishes with an orange, red and yellow design.

That evening, I checked my email and there was an ad from Pier 1 advertising 20% off on napkins and placemats. Oh, I do need napkins to go with my new plates. The next day, I stopped in the store and found the orange napkins, the cute multi-colored napkin rings and also the blue placemats and matching napkins. I used both the orange and the blue napkins together to make the napkins very full, now the napkins seem almost ready to fly off the plates.

I always enjoy decorating my bread rack with a few pieces to go with my tablescape; I moved my two aqua canisters from the counter to the rack and had a reddish orangey vase that I sat on the top shelf.

There is tons of sunlight pouring in my kitchen windows, I have closed every blind, but there is another row of smaller windows above those so this shot has direct sun on the right side of the table. I do love the sunlight in my kitchen so I can't complain.

Ok change of plans!

I have now decided that I like this tablescape in my kitchen well enough that I am going to use it for an Easter lunch on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. So that means I need to add some Easter pieces to the table. Gone with the orange dish and on with rabbits.
These two rabbits are Fitz and Floyd from the Spotted Bunny collection. Since I have orange napkins and the centerpiece platter with so much orange, I think these bunnies can hop right on the table.

The sun is setting and I am officially done with this tablescape, now an Easter Tablescape.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy
