The Patriotic Kitchen Hutch

I love seeing red, white, and blue all over blogland. My kitchen hutch is dressed in patriotic colors so come on over and take a look:

The hutch is filled with lots of red, white and blue just in time for the 4th of July.

If you love red, white, and blue take a closer look inside the hutch:

Red, white, and blue dishes and stemware that I have collected over the years fill the shelves.

The center shelves of the hutch are layered with:

 - blue goblets on the top shelve from the Dollar Tree many years ago. Tons of bloggers have these goblets

- Cobalt Blue Fiesta salad plates and dessert plates. The small bowls are by Tag purchased at Target years ago. Tins I purchased on a trip to Paris. Small whimsical Uncle Sam statues are on the 2nd and 3rd shelves.

- The lower shelf has red dinner plates by Madson Country, Cobalt salad plates by Fiesta, more Tag bowls, Calico plates by Royal Wessex. The red Ramekins are filled with red, white, and blue straws.

The shelves on the left side of the hutch are layered with more Royal Wessen plates, extra blue stemware, and flag for patriotism.

The shelves on the right side of the hutch are filled with more Royal Wessex, a sweet Cobalt Blue Fiesta teapot with patriotic beads and Fiesta salt and pepper shakers, white Bordallo plates, and red bowls.

The open section of the hutch has a Liberty Blue plate in the center, then decorative stoneware plates from Cracker Barrel on each side and two Cracker Barrel coffee cups on the left side. On the right side of the plates is Lady Liberty which is one of Lori Mitchell's design. The Celebrate kitchen towel is by Tag and purchased years ago.

All of the drawers on the lower part of the hutch are filled to the brim with sets of dishes. The garages on each side hold blenders, coffee pots and have electrical plugs in each garage.

Hope you enjoyed seeing The Patriotic Kitchen Hutch. I would love to know if you have a hutch to fill with your favorite things - Judy.

Spring in the Kitchen Hutch

Spring is a great time to share my kitchen hutch. It is filled with lots of green dishes plus stemware and just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

Bring out the green!

If you like green and you like dishes, you might enjoy my spring kitchen hutch.

The third shelf of the hutch is filled with Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage design plates, bowls and a platter. The green cabbage pattern is such a popular design that is all over blogland right now. I've been collecting them for 10 or more years.

The second shelf holds some newer finds added to my collection this year.

A couple of months ago, I was antiquing in the Branson, MO, area and found this darling tray, teapot and creamer. These three pieces have the rabbit and carrot design.

Since no sugar bowl came with these three pieces another hunt was on. I found a dragonfly design sugar bowl and lid on eBay.

The top shelf of the kitchen hutch holds stemware Lady Ann Gold by Gotham plus inexpensive green stemware. A ceramic pineapple stands in the middle.

Inside the door on the left side of the kitchen hutch, you will see more stemware, some Irish pieces, and a ceramic teapot made by my Mom in 1975.

Inside the right door of the hutch are more of the Lady Ann Gold stemware by Gotham on the top shelf, a checked shamrock and an Irish lad and lass.

The middle shelf holds pineapple design Bordallo plate and a rabbit and carrot design small Bordallo pitcher.

The bottom shelf is filled with white Bordallo dishes and a couple of St. Patrick's Day gnomes.

There you have it for my first addition of my Kitchen Hutch. Let me know what you think! - Judy

Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Leprechaun and A Tablescape

I am so excited to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Leprechaun! They have been hiding out in one of my cabinets for a couple of months and now is their big day to make their first appearance on my table.

They are both by Hoffman and are musical decanters. At one time they were filled with Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Just wind them up and they play a little tune. Aren't they just the cutest ever!

Along with our friends, Joy and Rick, we made a trip to the Branson, MO, area in January. The area is known for its live shows, shopping, and beautiful Table Rock Lake.

For years, I have looked for the perfect centerpiece for a St. Patty's Day table, so you know I was beyond thrilled to find the pair while Joy and I were antiquing on the trip.

I know there are lots of bloggers who love Bordallo Pinheiro, and I am one of those bloggers too.

Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Leprechaun seem it fit right it with the Bordallo crowd. I knew they would be perfect for the table.

I chose a rusty red cloth napkin to pull out the red in Mr. Lucky's beard. The two are standing on a beaded green shamrock placemat from Home Goods.

My collection of Bordallo Pinheiro probably began 10 or more years ago when I found them at a Tuesday Morning shop in the Kansas City area where we were living at the time. Since then, I have added several pieces to my collection through eBay and antique shops.

My stack of Bordallo earthenware for today's table includes a 12-inch charger, a 10.5-in dinner plate, a 9-inch salad bowl and a 4.5-inch bowl, all in the cabbage design. The placemat is a pale gold, and the gold flatware is by Rogers Co.

Several varieties of Jonquils are blooming in my garden. This morning, I cut some tiny ones for the two Belleek vases.

These tiny jonquils have double yellow blooms and only grow about 5 or 6 inches tall in my gardens.

What do you think about my fabulous find of Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Leprechaun?

Stop back after my Saint Patrick's Day party to see what we served, and a few other Bordallo Pinheiro pieces not shown today.

Thanks for stopping in to see Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Leprechaun and my tablescape. - Judy.

P.S. - In case you were wondering about the guys on the trip, they had a great time fishing on the other side of the dam on Lake Tanneycomo and here's the proof. That's my hubby with the Rainbow Trout plus Rick caught a 20-inch one (sorry no pic of Rick's big one).

St. Patty's Tablescape - A Leprechaun Is Caught

Have you seen a little bearded guy wearing a green coat and hat? This little guy likes to partake in mischief. I've been looking for a little guy like this and think I have him "under hat." See what you think.

Although he is often making or mending shoes, today he has a special place on my St. Patty's Day table. You can see he is under a bell jar so he won't get away.

For the table, I'm using a St. Patty's Day table runner and napkins that I made for the occasion.

A stack of Bordallo Pinheiro green cabbage plates is perfect for the day.

A stained glass shamrock made by my friend, Linda, also sits on the table runner. She sell them on her ebay store - Trace Creek Blues and has lots of neat hand-made items in her shop.

There you have it, a fun table for St. Patty's Day.

I hope the leprechaun will grant me three wishes and then he will be free - Judy
