A Visit from the Red-Headed Woodpecker

I had a unexpected visitor in the trees off of our deck. I was just shocked to see a Red-Headed Woodpecker when I opened the slider and looked  to the west end of  deck.

He is a first time visitor.

I photographed a red-headed woodpecker a couple of years ago at Kentucky Lake (seen here) but haven't seen one since.

My pics aren't great but I wanted to share.

I always thankful when I get a new bird in my trees. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

  1. Judy, you do get some beautiful visitors to your gardens. This guy is really handsome and I’m happy you grabbed your camera in time to capture these pics to share. I need to clean and fill my hummingbird feeder......TFS..

  2. They are beautiful birds. I often see a red-bellied woodpecker on our light pole, but haven't seen a redheaded woodpecker in ages. Nice!
