Looking Out the Window: The Carolina Wren

I recently had a new visitor to my suet feeder. I only got a few pics of the Carolina Wren and immediately began reading about this small chunky bird.

At All About Birds, I read both the male and female are a bright, unpatterned reddish-brown above and warm buffy-orange below. The bill is long, slender, and down-curved.

It was the long white eyebrow stripe that stood out for me.

The body is round and it has a long tail that is often cocked upward.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at the Carolina Wren - Judy.

  7. Hi Judy, My husband and I absolutely love Carolina wrens! We have them in our backyard and they often build a nest under our deck. What I love most about them is when they fly up to a high perch and sing their hearts out! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos! Blessings, Janet
