As you enter the Biltmore Mansion, the largest home in the United States, located in Asheville, NC, you quickly approach the octagonal sunken Winter Garden on the right of the entrance hall.
You see the stone archways with a ceiling of architecturally sculptured wood and multifaceted glass.
We visited Biltmore in late June and were able to see the costume exhibition of wedding dresses and attire from major motion pictures. The Winter Garden was decorated for wedding style to celebrate the exhibition. (Biltmore.com)
Just outside the Winter Garden, a wedding cake was on display.
Below is wedding gown and wedding attire from the motion picture Daniel Deronda in 2003 on display in the Tapestry Gallery Room which is close to the Winter Garden in the mansion.
It was difficult to take photos because of lighting issues in many of the rooms but at least photos were allowed. I understand only in the last few years has picture taking been permitted.
The Winter Garden was beautiful, and I am so honored that I was able to tour the mansion.

The Biltmore is truly a beautiful place. I have been there, but wish I could see the wedding dress display.
ReplyDeleteI love the Biltmore. It's so beautiful and I am so happy you got to visit such a gorgeous place. The wedding cake is so grand. Thank you for sharing your visit at Dishing it and Digging it link party. It's fun visiting your lovely blog.
ReplyDeleteI went there about 12 years ago and it is an amazing, beautiful place. IT was close to Christmas and everything was decorated for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with use.
Happy Halloween and have a wonderful week.
Mary
Hi Judy - GORGEOUS! I would love to visit there someday! Hugs, Holly
ReplyDeleteJudy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post!
We're Biltmore pass holders and go every year for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We were also there in June as we were in town for Author Susan Branch. The Winter Garden, and the kitchens are my favorite part of the house. Which were yours?

The Biltmore House is really beautiful over the Christmas holidays when the conservatory is full of red poinsettias and carolers are singing carols! The candlelight tour at night is special too! Thanks for sharing your photos! Blessings, Janet
ReplyDeleteJudy, What a beautiful place! It truly looks so elegant. Thanks for sharing it with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,

What a cool exhibit you got to see! Everything is just gorgeous! We were scheduled to visit Asheville and the Biltmore last year but had to cancel our trip :( I hope to go someday!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, first time visitor. I live not far from Biltmore, pictures are off an on depending on the exhibit. The Downton Abby costume exhibit was exquisite! Come back for Christmas - they just put the tree up this week.
ReplyDeleteWe have been to Biltmore several times and it is beautiful in every season. Thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteJudy, I love the Biltmore and I also love your pictures of the Winter Garden. You are right about the photos--when we visited we could not take pictures inside and as I was seeing the Downton Abbey costumes I was sad about that. But the wedding dress exhibit must have been amazing too. Thanks for the tour. I can't wait to go again. Linda
