Looking Out the Window - The White-breasted Nuthatch

As I was looking out my window today, a small white-breasted Nuthatch was feeding upside down on a suet feeder.

Here's another on a fruit berry nut and seed bell.

The nutch is gray-blue on the back, with a frosty white face and underparts.

The nuthatch looks like it is wearing a hood with its black or gray cap and neck.

The lower belly and under tail are often chestnut as read here

They often turn sideways and upside down on vertical surfaces as they eat or search for food. You can read more about them here

  8. Hi Judy. Your nuthatch is like our European Nuthatch in its actions if not its colouration.
