Recently, I got lucky and snapped a few pics of the Ring-billed Gull while we were boating on Kentucky Lake.
I was thrilled to take these pics and then to top it off, the gull has a fish in his mouth.
Identification of gulls isn't easy for me but the Ring-billed Gull has a black ring encircling his yellow bill. This ring really made it easy to identify him and I was grateful to see the ring.
You can see he is pale gray on the top of back of his wings and take a look at his wing tips. Beautiful!!
The gulls are migrating south but I have been watching them for several weeks on the lake.
You can see his yellow legs in the pic above. He is considered a medium-sized gull and has a shorter bill.
I was amazed how he kept flying around with the fish in his mouth.
I read that the non-breading adult has a small bit of tan streaking on their neck or head.
Gulls aren't common in my area so seeing the gull and pelican migration has been exciting. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Beautiful bird in flight and it seems you both made a great catch. Him with the fish and you with the camera.
