Wow is it hot here in Murray, KY. This is my first summer in Kentucky and I don't think I am ready for this heat and humidity. As this radiant sun goes down a bit, we are going to dine on the deck, and yes, the fans are on high to keep the air circulating.

The table is set for four with bright multi-colored placemats.
The placemats are topped with plates and salad bowls that also reflect the colors in the placemats. Nothing expensive here, just $Tree prices.
A quick and easy centerpiece was created for the table. A red vase filled with hosta leaves cut from my yard. These leaves also mimic the large leaf pattern on the green section on the placemats.
Two bowls have red centers and two have yellow. This makes an eye-pleasing distribution of color and creates interest for the table.
While the food is finished up, you can see the view of our backyard from the deck. No mountains or lakes, just grass and trees. I do enjoy working in my flower beds as much as possible and have bird feeders hanging from my deck and in the birch trees next to the deck.
If you look closely at the image on the right above, you can see the tractor feeder for the squirrels on the left side of the tree. We put corn out daily to keep the squirrels away from the bird feeders. But as soon as the corn is gone, here they come straight for my bird feeders.
My husband and SIL have been grilling for the meal, and we are ready to eat. My SIL told me earlier in the day that we were having steak and baked potatoes but that menu seemed to grow. We are serving grilled steak, fried shrimp and okra, loaded baked potatoes, and broccoli in cheese sauce. When the guys cook, it is a hearty meal.
Thanks for stopping in for another day of Life in Kentucky - Judy.

Judy,
ReplyDeleteLove your brightly hued dinnerware from Dollar Tree, dear friend!
The yellow bowl is my favorite!
The use of hostas for the centerpiece keeps this one cool, inviting tablescape!
YuMMy!
The menu is divinely delicious appealing for a summer's Eve, indeed!
Thanks for sharing!
Fondly,
Pat
Your vibrant table is perfect for starting the week off, Judy. What a great centerpiece, ♥ hostas.
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with squirrels...they are fun to watch, but oh, so greedy!
Have a wonderful week.
Save some of that food for me Judy. I'm on my way. Yes, the squirrels can be a pain but you do right to try and keep them away from the birds.
ReplyDeleteCheery setting. It reminds me of my fiesta ware.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having the opposite weather to us. Your summer tablescape looks so perfect for the season. Great idea to use hosta leaves as a centerpiece - might borrow that inspiration! Pretty plates and yummy food with a lovely view - what could be better!?
ReplyDeleteA little breeze can make all the difference on a hot day when we are out of the sun. Here in Florida our back deck faces to the east and is in full shade with a constant breeze off the lake. It can be very comfortable despite temperatures in the mid-80s. Heading out to the BBQ right now!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the heat, but I have never lived anywhere that is real humid. I hear it can be a beast! Your table is fun and hopefully it helped you beat the heat! Food looks and sounds yummy too. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
It's been unbearably hot here in Ohio, too Judy. This summer has been hotter and more humid in July than is normal. We;re having a storm now, hope it cools things down. The Good Lord knows we could use the rain, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteYour summertime tablescape and your meal look awesome - you always do it up so beautifully!
Thanks for your visit and sweet comments about my granddaughter, I cannot even believe what joy she brings us! Today she is five days old! : - )
