Come Sit At Our Halloween Table

My table is open and we have a place for you! Just take a seat!

You might need a double take of this little beauty! It's her first appearance at a Halloween table and she probably has a headache with all of the pins in her head holding the ferns, ribbons, and pipe cleaners in place. Poor girl!!

This girl is not the only skull head of the night, she has some competition! Who do you think is the cutest?

The crows have flown in for the party.

We aren't eating crows tonight.

But there is another character joining us after the pizza, hot wings, veggies and dip that you might want a little taste of.

It's Frankenstein joining us for dessert! I know you might enjoy a taste of this chocolate cake.

I'm thrilled that you joined our table tonight. Orange metallic placemats, black plates, cat napkins, "Witch Way to the Party" napkins, ivory handled flatware, amber stemware plus the spooky headed centerpiece were used for this Halloween table. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

The Ring-billed Gull Migration on Kentucky Lake

Recently, I got lucky and snapped a few pics of the Ring-billed Gull while we were boating on Kentucky Lake.

I was thrilled to take these pics and then to top it off, the gull has a fish in his mouth.

Identification of gulls isn't easy for me but the Ring-billed Gull has a black ring encircling his yellow bill. This ring really made it easy to identify him and I was grateful to see the ring.

You can see he is pale gray on the top of back of his wings and take a look at his wing tips. Beautiful!!

The gulls are migrating south but I have been watching them for several weeks on the lake.

You can see his yellow legs in the pic above. He is considered a medium-sized gull and has a shorter bill.

I was amazed how he kept flying around with the fish in his mouth.

I read that the non-breading adult has a small bit of tan streaking on their neck or head.

Gulls aren't common in my area so seeing the gull and pelican migration has been exciting. Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Planning A Halloween Party for Bunco

I'm hosting a Halloween Bunco Party in late October so it's time to start planning for the event. A review of some of my Halloween tablescapes and Halloween decor will get my brain turning.

One of my favorite Halloween posts featured a Halloween tray with Trixie, Dixie and Peach. I just love these three witches; wish they were still on the market!

These three witches and a fun table made for such a cute post seen here.

Another favorite brought some sparkle to the Halloween table with mercury glass balls.

This table was designed for a party at my daughter's house and can be seen here

"Eating Crow" was another fun Halloween post. The post was all about eating a little crow to save a friendship. Could you do it?

Note: Originally my blog was titled JBigg's Little Pieces (2009-2015) then we moved to Kentucky in late 2015 and the title was changed to: Life in Kentucky.

"Heads Will Roll" brought some "creepyness" to the table.

Lots of skulls filled this Halloween table.

You can visit this creepy table here.

A final Halloween post in my review was "Bobble Heads and Halloween Whimsey". This one was designed for my grandson who was three at the time and didn't go for anything too scary.

"Bobble Heads" can be seen here

Inspiration has filled my head and I plan to shop my stash to design a table and the decor for the Halloween Bunco party.

Thanks for stopping by for another day of Life in Kentucky. Let me know if you got a little inspiration from my posts or ideas for your Halloween decorating - Judy.

American White Pelicans on Kentucky Lake

What a day to be impressed! A few friends and I went pelican hunting on the south end of Kentucky Lake.

My pics aren't perfect, but I tried my best. I was in a moving boat plus the pelicans did not stop in mid air for me to get the best snaps.

We have been searching for the pelicans as they migrate southward through Kentucky Lake for a couple weeks. A friend shared the pic below of the pelicans at the north end of the lake.

This was my third attempt to cruise the lake and look for the pelicans. With a nine foot wingspan, the American White Pelican is one of our largest birds.

Last weekend, we found a small squadron of approximately 30 pelicans but they were in such shallow water, we couldn't get any good pics. We even hit lake bottom with the boat and had to push our way out of the shallow water. WE TRIED!

Did you know the pelican does not dive for fish from the air? They like to eat in shallow water.

That's it for todays pelican hunt but stay tuned, I hope to do some more hunting this weekend. - Judy.
