At The Feeders and in the Trees - Week 36

We have been getting lots of rain here in Western Kentucky. The picture below shows a nice reflection of the Goldfinch in a small puddle of water on a table on the deck. (Love these two pics)

A Carolina Wren paid a visit this week. I haven't seen him at my feeders for quite a while so it was fun to snap a few pics.

The Red-bellied Woodpecker and White-throated Sparrows gave me a few photo opportunities.

Usually the Red-Bellied Woodpecker is up and down my trees looking for insects or eats suet but this week, I saw him on the  black-oiled sunflower seed feeder.

Other visitors at the feeders include cardinals, purple finches (male and female), house finches.

Fun shots of the week:

Hope your birding has been fun and interesting - Judy.

  1. Some good activity at your feeders, a good variation of species. I am looking over a couple books written about a friend who helped get me started birding, she taught herself, Gladys Black. A most interesting lady to have met.

I love the activity and variation at your feeders. Cardinals are one of my favorite birds.
while the red males are instantly recognizable, the more camouflaged females are also lovely and elegant.
    Stopping by for Saturday's Critters.

  6. Judy, you've had lots of little visitors! Great snaps too, love the Goldfinch with the reflection in the water, that is fabulous and of course all the Cardinals in one snap. What a show :) Happy weekend, hope your weather is better than mine today. Cloudy and chilly with rain in the forecast.

  7. You have the best birds! The goldfinch looks in the first picture like he’s looking at himself in a mirror! I’ve never seen that many cardinals in one place before and I’m envious! Black oil sunflower seeds were our best bet for getting lots of good birds back when we used to feed birds. But that was in Oregon , no cardinals there. We did have goldfinches, which I don’t ever see here in Florida.

  8. Judy - I am just in awe of how many male cardinals you have seen at one time. I miss them! The reflection pictures are superb and unique. Well done! (By the way, I noticed you have listed Normandy Life as the hostess for Mosaic Monday. I thought you might like to know that I have taken on responsibility for hosting the meme.) Enjoy your week ahead!

  9. Judy,
You capture the most amazing photos of the birds at your feeder!
There has been a flurry of activity at the feeders here
this past week with all the ice.
One day, as the ice melted, I noticed the birds were drinking the water from the puddles.
I'd love to put out water, but it will just freeze before they can use it.
    Thank you for amazing photos!
    Pat
