I am thankful to see the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak return to my feeders.
A female cardinal and the grosbeak share a little space on the feeder filled with safflower seeds.
The Ruby-throated hummingbirds have also returned to my feeders.

ReplyDeleteWe saw a pair of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks at our feeders a few days ago. I wish they would stay the summer with us, but no, they are on their way farther north.

Love the Grosbeak. Wish one would stop by here. The hummingbirds are so much fun to watch. One came up and hovered next to the window staring at me. I went out to fill the feeders and checked to see the sugar/water level. It was empty. I think he was complaining to me about the service. I filled it and now he seems happy.

To answer your question about the bluebird houses. They should be mounted 3 to 6 feet off the ground. Have you noticed bluebird houses mounted on pasture fence posts? That is about the right height.
