Purple is one of my favorite colors to see in my gardens. This purple and white columbine is a second year perennial for us. I was just thrilled this year at the beauty of the blooms.
In this same bed are ferns and more columbine. The columbine below is named "Little Red Lantern" and is very dainty and quite showy with it's red and yellow blooms. It has self-seeded in the bed so I have been very careful as I clean out the bed.
The pink dogwoods planted two years ago have rewarded us with beautiful blooms.
Purple blooms in our front beds are so stunning. These iris would catch anyone's eye.
I do enjoy the instant color that perennials bring to flower beds and pots.
A large flower pot filled with orange zinnias and other orange, red, and yellow perennials sits on a large piece of tree trunk that was too heavy for my husband to move by himself.
Plants on our front porch include tuberous begonias, ferns, and petunias.
Our roses are blooming with their brilliant red flowers.
Our hostas have been putting on a show.
Some are now starting to bloom.

Always remind me of my vacation to the Carolinas. Would love to try one here. My roses are still in bud. Can't wait for blooms! Thanks for sharing with the Garden Party and SYC.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you joined the Garden Party! Your clematis are so pretty- that little red lantern one is so unusual. Wonderful seeing your hostas- I can't believe they are flowering already! I love the way annuals provide a constant addition of flowers since perennials have a window of time that they bloom and then they're done. Love the big flower pot with the zinnias! I planted a dozen this year but I don't have flowers just yet. Have a great holiday weekend!

You're just far enough north of us that you can grow lovely flowers that we can't. I'm smitten with your columbines, although any purple flowers are my favorites. I'm also envious of your hostas. Mine are a banquet for the resident bunnies and deer!

Wow, so much blooming already in your Kentucky garden - lovely!!! I have never had luck with Columbine, although I did try it a couple of times - oh well, yours is certainly lovely though!

I love all the flowers and the overall effect of your lush plantings is beautiful. I wouldn't even need that yummy looking treat to be happy just sitting there and gazing at it.
