Irises Blooming

Hello, hope all of you are happy and well in blogland. I have so enjoyed Spring this year and especially my flowers growing and blooming in my yard. My lilacs are done and now my irises are going strong. Here's my breakfast tablescape for this week. I'll show you my inspiration in just a second.
Now, here is the inspiration for my table. Just look at this bearded iris from my yard, I love it! I'll give you a link below to my post on my irises. There's even a little challenge on identifying bearded irises.
I began thinking about a post with irises a few weeks ago and wondering what colors I would use in my tablescape other than purple. At first I had planned on using white China with a white tablecloth but when the irises bloomed and I looked closely at them, there was no question on what color choice I should use with the white China.
Now I am so glad I used the yellow placemats and then doubled my yellow and purple napkins using a silver napkin ring. The purple napkins are hemstitch and the yellow are from Pier 1 and have a crochet edge.
I found this great teapot at TJ Maxx and thought it would get a little more fame if I elevated it using a couple pieces of silver.

I used my yellow Bordallo Pinheiro pitcher as a vase for the iris centerpiece. I cut the irises to keep my centerpiece low so we could have easy conversation at the table without looking around or over the irises.
I few of the blooms fell off while making the centerpiece and I didn't want to throw them away so I added a little water to a small glass bowl and gave the them a little longer show time.
I do have another set of white dishes now and I didn't pay a dime for them. My daughter had them on her garage sale shelf in her basement. I do remember that I bought them for her when she moving away to go to CRNA school. She was happy to give the Pfaltzgraff Gazebo set back to me and at what a bargain, FREE, well other than the fact that I paid for them the first time.
The breakfast menu is ready to serve. My husband always enjoys a big breakfast so I am serving a selection from the Queen Mary Tea website except the food will be made by me.
STRAWBERRY BRIE OMELET
Three eggs, fresh strawberries, brie, a touch of raspberry jam and finished with a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Served with a side of country style potatoes and fresh fruit.

Mary's Tea Room features African Red Bush Tea. Here's a link to a little info about her tea.

  8. This is such a lovely table to begin the day! It's so cheery, I love the yellow and purple. Lucky you to have been re-gifted with the dishes:) Your Iris are gorgeous, mine are almost done, but I really enjoyed them during their bloom time. Now I'm moving into early lily time (I can't remember if they're Asiatic or Oriental).

  10. Judy,
Your iris and table are so pretty and perfectly coordinated. Iris aren't blooming here yet and I'm not sure mine have survived. They were ages old. They are the prettiest and most unique blossom with their delicate and extravagant beauty. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

  11. BEAUTIFUL color combination, Judy!!! Just beautiful!!! It really pays to study nature, doesn't it? We can find the prettiest color combos right there at our fingertips. Semi-free dishes...way to go!!! That's maybe one reason they say always buy gifts for others that you would choose for yourself!!! :-) Great teapot elevation idea, and I love it that you used the fallen petals in a unique way to fill out your table rather than to just discard them. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I am so envious of your lovely Iris plants. I planted some years ago but they didn't do well in my yard. Too much shade I suspect.

Thanks for stopping by my post and saying hello.

I love bearded Iris. But to identify them is hard. There exist so many wonderful breedings. I also love the special scent and have a parfum called Iris with that scent. Your table is really breath taking. I would also love to have such a breakfast and wouldn't matter, whatever you would serve. Thanks for sharing this delight.

  36. Hi Judy! You know, I never knew what a bearded iris was before so thanks for the lesson! You certainly picked the right colors for the table. My irises come up, the little coiled bud appears, then they die! I tried to have them pulled out because it is so annoying to see them, but the greens came back this year. Maybe they'll bloom! Linda

I have always liked those dishes -- bet you are happy she didn't get rid of them.

I always think I my father when I see those irises. He grew lots and lots of them.
