I was impressed while looking to see which railroad it belonged to. You can see the Union Pacific emblem on the front on the engine below.
The engine is painted traditional Armour Yellow with the flag on each side of the locomotive. Looked impressive to me!
We drove on after a few pictures and about a mile further, we saw another train on the track. It didn't have a flag on the side but was still interesting to watch it.
This sign below made me think about the very old tricky question:
Railroad crossing look out for the cars can you spell that without any r's?

ReplyDeleteMy dear hubby is a railroad nut. He has loved trains since he was a very young boy. When we married, I knew he liked train, but had no clue of how it would influence our lives. Now that he is retired, he spends 4 days a week involved with some aspect of trains. He has one day that he and a group of men work on a 5K sq ft layout for model trains. The other 3 days a week, he is at the local railroad museum, where he is the Vice President of the charter group. The museum is in downtown Nashville, TN and runs about 30 excursion trips across Middle Tennessee during a year. Like I said, he is a railroad nut.

The riddle reminds me of my younger days.:-) THAT made the rounds a few times. My grandfather worked for Southern Railway long ago, and I rode the train a few times returning home on vacations from college. Nothing like riding a passenger train!:-)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Uncle Louie worked on the railroad. I love trains! My mom's oldest sister, my aunt Mary, use to say "When God was passing out brains, I tohught He said trains, and I said no thank you I pass!" and "When God was passing out noses I thought he said roses and I said give me a great big one!" I just was reminded of that. You made me think of train memories. My older brother had a basement full of trains. What I wouldn't give to have that train collection. Ah...such nice memories you conjured up for me!
