I found this image on Flickr and it gives you pictures for Teal, Turquoise and Aqua. Now does that help me any? Not sure, I was thinking that aqua was lighter than turquoise but I guess I am wrong.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/theborers/6125049328/
After looking at that image, do you think my plates, glasses and tablecloth are more of the aqua shade or the turquoise?
Whatever shade of blue they are, I love them all and especially my tablecloth. I have had it a few years, it is by April Cornell. I do have green cloth napkins by April that go very well with the cloth but they are at my daughter's house. She wanted to use them on her Easter tablescape. I hope to feature her table on another post.
The plates are not the same ones I used in my recent post "Soup for the Soul" They are a lighter shade of blue than these. You can see those here.
I just purchased these plates at the Dollar Store for $1 each. I was thrilled to find them who cares if they were cheap. Oops, I mean inexpensive or should I say, I got them for such a bargain!
They only had four of the plates so I may try to stop by another Dollar Store to see if I can find anymore.
When I first decorated my table, I didn't include the vase and flowers. I think I liked the tablecloth so much that I didn't want to take away from it.
Then I remembered one of the comments left on my Blue on Blue series about how much a viewer liked pink roses in an aqua vase.
I didn't have any pink roses for my vase but I did have pink and white peonies. Love the table now with the vase and flowers. The vase is from TJ Maxx; the candles are from Bed, Bath and Beyond and the birds are from Michaels.
I really do appreciate your comments and suggestions and I am so glad I remembered her comment about the pink flowers in the aqua vase.
I do want to thank Cindy over at Beau R'eves for her tip on the glasses. I am keeping her secret about the glasses.
Thanks so much for stopping by - Judy.

You know, I thought aqua was lighter than turquoise too! I guess you learn something new every day.
ReplyDeleteI love your tablescape! The colors are so beautiful. I love the blue goblets & the table cloth.
It is all aqua to me! Gorgeous table, Judy.
ReplyDeleteYou have me all curious...what is the big secret with the glasses?
Yeah, turquoise and aqua can be very confusing. I think everyone has different definitions...lol. Would love it if you would link this post up at my turquoise lovin' party! http://www.sweetlittlegals.com/2012/02/turquoise-lovin-27.html
ReplyDeleteIts actually neither. I believe its a blue called "french blue" which is a soft blue with a beauitful deep blue like your china and vase. Beauitful tablescape. Congrats on your great find at the dollar store, I shop smart all the time. Its only good budget sense to save money,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tablescape, no matter what you call it!
ReplyDeleteI love it, very, very charming. The blue vase IS perfect!!
ReplyDeleteLove your tablescape. It is so perfect for spring. A great dollar store find in those plates! The color chart was a great help!
ReplyDeleteI would have reversed the labels on aqua and turquoise. Whatever you call it, I have been in love with it a long long time.
ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful -- and I love the stemware. I have only four each of the ones I used this week, but I am always looking for more. Yours look fabulous with the light coming through.
Love teal, aqua and turquoise! What a gorgeous April Cornell tablecloth!!! Love your table, no matter what hue or shade it is!
ReplyDeleteWOW. I love t his tablescape!
ReplyDeleteI believe the specific blue on those AMAZING "thrifty" plates - you totally scored winners there, gal - are called Sea Blue - neither turquoise or Aqua.
Haha, nothing like adding more to the confusing mix.
I am so glad I am not the only one confused by that color naming situation - but I always call is Ocean Blue or Sea Blue.
Adding the flowers changed your entire table....and you know a white vase with light yellow Daffodils would bring out the yellow in the tablecloth too - a whole different look.
Love this table, well done!!!
This is perfection! And you put the cherry on top with the flowers, they really added zing! I covet that tablecloth...lol...it is just eye popping! I think according to your 'color chart' I would say it is more turquoise...that had me going back and forth for a while...fun post!
ReplyDeleteWe have a very similar color theme today so you must know how much I love this tablescape. I think aqua has a brighter tinge. I kinda think this is turquoise, although it's just an opinion and I cannot be too sure...Christine
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I saw those plates in the dollar store and passed right by them, now I wish I hadn't! What ever color blue your pieces are, they're lovely. Would love to know what the tip on the glasses was!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you go by the paint chips - they look aqua! LOVE April Cornell - your table came together beautifully! Love the flowers - the contrast is gorgeous - thank you for sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Love your tablecloth and those less costly dishes.. they are a wonderful blue and just enough edge on them to make them a classic. I'm sure you will enjoy them for a long time. Love the glasses too.. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteJudy ~ I keep looking for your reply about where to find the
ReplyDeletelovely pale blue bunny dishes....I would love to obtain some.
The tablescape, according to your charts, is a wonderful blend
of turquoise and aqua. The flowers are the perfect accent to
complete the picture. Hoping to hear from you.
Mary
Hi thanks, the plate is by Grassland Road and named Bunny Boutique Dessert Plate and it came with the stand. I purchased it at Cockrell Mercantile Company. It is a great shop with multiple cottages to shop in. It is located on Highway 50 out from Lee's Summitt. MO. Here's the phone number to their store 816-697-1923, they do ship.
DeleteHi lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteYour Tablescape is Beautiful with your dishes and your lovely tablecloth.
You did a wonderful job putting this one all together. Your dishes are lovely with the blue on the edge. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your lovely family.
XXOO Diane
Depending on the manufacturer, I think that we can find a plethora of names for this most wonderful range of colors. I always think of them as different hues and shades of "water blues"...kind of a generic name for them. Your tablescape is delightful...one of my favorite color ranges. Thank you for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI love all the shades of turquoise. I especially liked the vase, but didn't see any mention of it or where you purchased it? love the tablecloth and the whole setting. I have become your follower.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell but what a beautiful table, that color just pops and you did a wonderful job of putting it all together.
ReplyDeletePat
Who cares what color to call it? It's all beautiful. What a gorgeous table you've set for spring!
ReplyDeletehmmm. Maybe robin;s egg blue??? I about fell over when I read that the plates were only a buck each! Great find.

Oooo Gorgeous I love to mix my Teals/Aqua's-whatever,with My lavenders.I loved this post so now I'm your new follower. If you visit Me you might see a lot of lavender but just know I'm mixing in a lot of....Tourqoise?
ReplyDeleteThe tablescape is beautiful. The glasses are turquoise. I don't think the dishes are any of those 3 colors. Aqua is a pale blue green color. Turquoise is darker and more blue than aqua yet brighter than teal. Everyone is calling all 3 colors teal now. To me, teal is a turquoise that has either black or gray in it. Traditionally. I thought aqua was the color of most scouring powders.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mimi.
DeleteOh so very pretty! I love the colors, and the stems are fabulous! I haven't seen those plates at the many dollar store, I mean do you ever just spend a dollar? :) They are perfect with the cloth and the rest of your "accoutrements". Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's all blue to me, giggle It looks lovely xo
ReplyDeleteI would call that color Aqua. That is the color I am in love with right now. I love your tablescape and I agree that the pink flowers in the Aqua vase are beautiful! I think of a darker color when I think of Turquoise and I think most people do. Some people do call it ocean blue etc--but I have found from experience if someone calls a color Aqua I usually love it. TFS!
ReplyDeleteI vote for aqua on your glasses, although it's hard for me to distinguish which is which among the 3 colors, too! I think teal tends to be deeper in tone. I always thought aqua was more like water (as shown in your photo) and turquoise has more of a greenish undertone. Yikes! I would go nuts if I was a painter!!!!!!!! Here's the good news, though: They all work so well together that they can easily share a table! You did a beautiful job here, and I agree that the punch of pink gives the look some "flavor." I love it that we can all learn from each other! That's how we grow and nurture our creative spirit!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tablescape! I love the glasses! I don't know what shade I would call them :) That little color scale seems a bit off to me - but who knows! I always thought turqoise was a bit greener. Well your table is lovely regardless!!
ReplyDeleteJennelise
I love your tablescape and my favorite are he eggs! The colors are very calming, great floral arrangement.Who would think you can create such a great setting with the help of Dollar store finds!

Well, I don't know what the color would be officially but, I know it is gorgeous! This table is so pretty! What a lovely job you did creating it! Thank you for sharing with us at TT and enjoy the rest of your day!
ReplyDeleteTo me the labels on aqua and turquoise should be reversed. All three are gorgeous shades! reversed the labels on aqua and turquoise.
ReplyDeleteI always thought aqua was lighter than turquoise too, but you know what........I love all three of these colors no matter what their name. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think aqua IS lighter than turquoise~so I can't change that way of thinking at my age! I love pink and aqua together too, the table is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteYour Tablecloth and Tablescape are Beautiful"" I also love your aqua glass's Wow I NEED some !! You did a lovely job putting this table all together sweet. This is so Spring. I hope you have a wonderful week with your family.
XXOO Diane
Beautiful tablescape! I have to agree, aqua is lighter than turquoise! Teal is the deepest of the hues of the color.
ReplyDeleteI am knew to your blog, but I will return!
Beckie in Brentwood, TN
I'm throwing in my opinion. To me, aqua is a pale blue with green pigment in it. Turquoise is a rich mid-tone brilliant hue. I just finished two tablescape posts using aqua china. I don't see aqua in your table, only light turquoise and medium blues. At any rate, I do love both colors. Very pretty tablecloth also. Summer
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. And it's my favorite color...whatever it is.
ReplyDeleteWell - whatever your call it -- this is just gorgeous! I love those colors and that stemware just shines. I would agree that I thought aqua was lighter than turquoise.
ReplyDeleteI say gorgeous! Wow those plates are from the dollar store?! I must go find me some! I really love April Cornel linens...they are so colorful and bright! I have some of her napkins...they totally make the table! Great job! Thanks for linking up to centerpiece Wednesday!
