Big Sky Montana and Six Dear Friends

We recently took a trip to resort village of Big Sky, Montana with four dear friends plus my husband and myself. The memories will last forever and the images can't do it justice but I'll share some of the beautiful scenery with you.

If you are not familiar with Big Sky, it is located about midway between West Yellowstone and Bozeman and 15 miles from the northwestern border of Yellowstone National Park.

How about lavender growing along the road and in the fields? Don't you love the purple color and I bet you can almost smell its fragrance.

More lavender we saw while driving around the area of Big Sky.

The community has two large ski resorts in the mountain sector of the area: Big Sky Ski Resort and Moonlight Basin Ski Resort. We visited both resorts while there.

Big Sky Ski Resort offers meeting and conferences spaces plus recreational fun like skiing, golfing, zip lining, hiking, mountain biking, horse back riding, white water rafting, and the scenic lift ride.

We took the ski lift to enjoy the views from the top.

The lift takes up to the summit of Lone Peak Mountain at 11,166 feet. You can see the treeless terrain on Lone Peak Mountain.
View from the top of the lift.

The resort is trademarked as the "Biggest Skiing in America" through the Biggest Skiing in America Pass skiers and riders have access to over 5, 532 acres.

Three-quarters of the terrain is Big Sky Report with the remaining trails at Moonlight Basin.

We took a picture of the terrain map so you can see the ski area in winter.

We went to Moonlight twice while we were in Big Sky. Once just to take in the view then again one evening for dinner. Since I forgot to take pictures showing the front and back of the lodge, the two pictures below are from Google Images.

We had dinner on the patio at the lodge and the food was great.

Another one of the native flowers in the Big Sky area is Indian Paint Brush.

I read that the flower is edible and was consumed by various Indian tribes.

Daisies were growing along the roadside.

Our last morning in Big Sky and a toast to Big Sky and over 35 years of friendship.

I'll share a bit of Yellowstone with you next time. - Judy

Gerber Daisies and A Colorful Table

Gerber daisies and a green pierced ginger jar are perfect for a centerpiece. Both bring color and interest to my table.

A colorful casual late summer table evolved with orange dinner plates, patterned green salad plates, and orange bowls.

Orange and green napkins layered together with a beaded napkin ring bring more color to the table.

Lightly tinted blue glasses with a light green stem were selected to mimic the blue and green in the tablecloth and the napkin rings.

Now it's time to bring it all together. This summer table could be created indoors or outdoors. It's designed to bring friends and family together for summer fun. We love sitting on the deck and enjoying conversations and funny stories.

You know I always try to add elements to my breadrack that reflect the colors used in my table.

It's time to sit down with friends and family and let the laughter begin.

Thanks for stopping by - Judy.

Summer Table and A Choice

Do you ever get down to the final touches and suddenly question your choices? That's what happened when I thought my tablescape was done.

I used a green napkin on my Summer Tablescape  to accent the green in the tablecloth by Raymond Waites.

Here's the entire table with the green napkins.

Napkin #1

Then I began to question myself on the choice of the green napkins. I think it was the centerpiece and the surrounding flowers. The jar is white and the flowers are a creamy white.

Hmm, maybe I need a napkin that reflected these shades of white instead of the green in the tablecloth.

Here's the table with the creamy white napkins.

Napkin #2:

Ok, think about it, which napkin do you like with the tablescape? We will come back to it in just a minute.

On to my breadrack and a fun project. You know my favorite color is aqua so, of course,  the breadrack is hosting a few pieces of aqua to compliment my table.

I attended a fun craft workshop today in Branson, MO, and made a dimensional piece with lots of texture. We started with a blank white canvas and began adding the layers of texture. One of the sprays I used was turquoise so it fit in nicely with my aqua pieces on the breadrack. That's my Mom when she was in high school.

Now it's choice time, tell me if you would choose Napkin #1 (green) or Napkin #2 (creamy white)?

Thanks for following along and leaving me a message - Judy

P.S. - All my photos were taken with my iPhone, I left my 35mm camera at my daughter's house.
