Fourth of July - A Patriotic Tablescape

The most patriotic day in the USA, Independence Day is almost here and we are ready to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Many of us are decorating our homes, inside and outside, hanging our flags, planning our menus, and setting our tables with the red, white and blue.

My centerpiece represents the sparkle of the bombs bursting in air sung in our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner".

Holding true to American traditions, my table is set for this day of celebration. Bells will be ringing, firecrackers will be popping, candles will be burning.

Patriotic menus include hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, and apple pie. We will include barbecue and cold slaw in our menu.

Join me in celebrating the Fourth of July by enjoying time with your family and friends for a day of patriotism - Judy.

Stars and Stripes - Let Freedom Ring

We are getting out the stars and stripes around my daughter's house.

These Pottery Barn pillows really pop on the white couch. Perfect for bringing the stars and stripes to the living room.

Many of us are thinking about the Fourth of July and how we will spend our day.

It may be at a barbecue or a picnic. Food and fun are always a priority.

It could be a big parade in your area

or a small parade in your neighborhood.

All of these are to celebrate our freedom.

I hope you plan to "Let Freedom Ring"

and wave your flags proudly.

White Petunias and A Surprise Tablescape

The white petunias are gorgeous blooming in the wire basket on the deck.

They are so showy with the green grass in the background.

My tablescape is a special one for my daughter. She celebrated her birthday over the weekend and I decided to set a special table just for her and her husband to celebrate her special day.

Orange and yellow are two of her favorite colors and work well with the white petunias.

Orange woven placemats separate the yellow Fiesta plates and the yellow tablecloth. The salad plate is a bright yellow patterned plate with a blue rim.

The tablecloth is from TJ Maxx and the orange napkins and napkin rings are Pier One. The flatware is Laurie Gates - Ivory by Hampton.

A bottle of her favorite wine is added to the table.

Climbing Clematis and A Short Break

The clematis are blooming on my trellis and are so pretty I wanted to share them with you.
Many blooms still waiting to open.

The deep purple clematis on my mail box is just starting to bloom.

I am going to visit my Dad for a while so I am taking a little break from my blog.

Take care - Judy

Peonies and A Tablescape

The peonies are blooming in our area but the heavy rains have them drooping over. I thought they would make a beautiful centerpiece for a tablescape.

What a wonderful aroma they have. When you bring them into the house it is just divine to sit at the table and enjoy their sweet smell.

Isn't this bright fuchsia color just fabulous?

My tablescape began with placemats purchased over a year ago from HomeGoods.

All year I have wanted to use these pink and green placemats, my green handled flatware was perfect to bring out the green the in placemats.

It was the centerpiece that was bugging me. What could I use?  A walk through the yard and it was an easy decision; I must have been waiting for the peonies.

For a little change to the tablescape, I tried hummingbird plates.

The plates had pink and green, just the colors in the platemates.

Did you know cutting the peonies just before the bud open makes it easier to shake the ants off.

The perfect time to cut the peonies is when the bud is showing color and is as soft as a marshmallow.

When the diner party is over, the peonies can be moved to a new location for added enjoyment.

Hope you have some peonies to enjoy - Judy.
