Easter Dining

I've been helping my daughter design her Easter dining table. It is set for the occasion and features a whimsical yet elegant table. Take a look at her giant Easter rabbit that is front and center and looks like he could take a huge leap right off the table. He came from Nell Hill's in Kansas City.

What a guy to have such prestige at the table!

Although the Bible makes no mention of a long-eared, short-tailed creature who delivers decorated eggs to well-behaved children on Easter Sunday, the Easter bunny has become a prominent symbol of Christianity’s most important holiday.

He's hopping right over the Easter egg wreath used as a centerpiece. The grapevine wreath has yellow and green eggs with purple flowers and came from Pier 1. You can see additional pieces of this collection used here on my Easter Naturals Tablescape.

Elegant and whimsy meet at each place setting when elegant Lenox Eternal Gold meets casual burlap bunny-ear napkin rings from Pier 1. She is using burlap fabric for her table runner and has used the burlap on so many occasions as seen in the Fall here, and here, and even at Christmas here.

The bunny ear napkin rings hold Fresco Paisley Pottery Barn napkins. They are muted colors of a blue/gray, brown and a little yellow.

Next to the napkins are fun Easter cupcakes with Wilton picket fence cupcake wraps from Michaels. Click here for a link to my Easter cupcake decorating project.

Each cupcake was iced with green icing then topped with additional green grass using a Wilton grass tip. The little bunnies are Icing Decorations by Wilton also purchased at Michaels. The jelly beans were added for fun and color. Who doesn't like to eat a jelly bean or two!

Lenox Eternal Gold flatware and stemware bring a little added elegance to this Easter table. We placed an ivory napkin under the forks.

An extra plate of goodies is ready for her guests. Decorated shortbread cookies with lemon icing from Panera Bread, yellow rabbit Peeps, and  more cupcakes should keep everyone happy.

The little bird on the right behind the napkin is peeking her head up for a look at the plate of goodies.

No candles needed for the candle sticks, just a few eggs on top.
Happy Easter to all of you as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ -   Judy.

For The Love of Peeps

I showed you some Peeps the other day that I used with my Easter cupcakes here but my two sweet grandsons ate those cute Peeps as soon as I finished taking pictures. You know the traditional yellow bunny type of Peeps.

So I needed more Peeps; then next came six inches of snow so I couldn't get to the store for more Peeps. Well, if you can't shop, you might as well look at blogs and see what clever ideas are out there in blogland. Mary over at Home Is Where The Boat Is saved me with her creative and adorable post "Garnished with Easter Peeps." She is just the best!!

By Monday noon the roads were mostly clear, so off to Target in search of those Anniversary Peeps. Can you imagine 60 years of Peeps!!

 Anniversary Peeps it is!!

Now my grandsons will have these cute little pastel Peeps.

I'm at their house this week and have created a special vignette featuring the Anniversary Peeps and whimsical Easter decor.

I can't wait until they come home from daycare and see the Anniversary Peeps!!

Easter Naturals

Do you enjoy natural elements on the table?

My Easter tablescape features natural elements that remind me of a walk in the woods or along a garden path on a warm Spring day. Bring your basket in case you want to pick something!

I stopped in Pier 1 looking for a wreath for my daughter's Easter table and found the basket above and the nests below. I'll show you her wreath later.

I couldn't resist the nests with their natural look. I continued the natural elements with the woven chargers under the Fiesta bowl and plate.

The etched green stemware is a bit more elegant but works so well with the green eggs in the basket and nests. I used the same stemware on my Hoppy Easter tablescape seen here

Green and yellow eggs plus dainty yellow, purple and hot pink flowers fill the nests and basket.

The three tumbling rabbits beneath the basket are Fitz and Floyd. The purple pansies they are holding bring a little more purple to the table.

The table is ready, now I'm just waiting for family to arrive.

I like extra purple napkins beneath the Fiesta bowl. It really makes the purple flowers in the baskets pop. My flatware belonged to my Mom and is the Daffodil Pattern by 1847 Rogers.

Susan over at BNOTP mentioned decorated cookies from Big Lots. I liked the ones she was featuring so I stopped in Big Lots in my area and found these cute decorated Easter baskets. Thanks for the tip Susan!!

My Easter Naturals table is topped off with green cloth napkins and wooden napkin rings. Two napkin choices must be better than one.

I hope you are planning an Easter celebration with your family or friends - Judy.

It's My Birthday

Hi Everyone, it's my birthday and I'm sharing my cake with you.

To my surprise, my daughter bought a strawberry cake and a few treats for a little party just for me.

Check out these beautiful chocolate covered strawberries. Oh they are so yummy!

Look at the cute rabbit ear cookies with the pink icing. So sweet, and see the drop of white icing in the center of the ears.

The eggs on a stick are marshmallows covered in icing and sprinkles.

Wow, it's been a good birthday!

I'm so glad I swam my 40 laps today before we celebrated with the strawberry cake and treats - Judy.

Easter Cupcakes

I have kind of been trying to improve my cupcake decorating skills. Today I am working on Easter cupcakes. It has to be easy and fairly simple!

Adding grass to my cupcakes is my main objective in this process. I am using a Wilton grass tip.

I was determined to get the hang of it and discovered it was all in how much icing and pressure I was applying. This one looks too much like a star so I need to apply less pressure and pull the tip a little to get the glassy look.

Too much pressure and too much icing and my grass looked so not like grass. So take it easy on the pressure!

I jazzed the cupcakes up with Wilton cupcake wrappers and Icing Decorations.

Now maybe no one will notice they aren't perfect and will eat them quickly! A few jelly beans make it colorful.

Add a few Peeps to the plate . . .

and some Decorated cookies from Panera Bread.

I'm going to replate them on Lenox Eternal Gold china and now they even take on a look of elegance. I'm adding them to an Easter tablescape that I'll show you soon.

Thanks for stopping in to see another attempt by me at cupcake decorating. - Judy.
